Saffron

What is Saffron?
Saffron is the most expensive spice in the world. The reason for its high price is its laborious harvesting method, which makes it expensive to produce. Saffron is harvested by hand from the flower of Crocus sativus, commonly known as the saffron crocus. The term 'saffron' refers to the thread-like structure of the flower called the stigma.

While the origin of saffron is still debated, it most likely originated in Iran (saffron was imported from Iran). There it was revered for its medicinal properties. People ate saffron to increase libido, improve mood and improve memory
